Vintage Bowl with Handles, Ritz Hotel

This vintage bowl with handles was made for the luxurious Ritz Hotel in London by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company (founded in the late 1800's) on nearby Regent Street. This bowl, circa 1930's, is full of character and charm thanks to its patina from its history of use in the restaurants of this iconic hotel.

We love the graceful shape of the bowl including the ribbon and reed top rim (now mellowed with age) and handles adorned with a bow and laurel leaf pattern. 

It's a coveted piece of vintage European hotel silver with its signature heft (for durability to withstand daily use in the bustling establishment) and luster of elegant silver plating. 

This treasure is from our trove of "perfectly imperfect" pieces of collected silver from some of the most iconic and historic hotels of Europe.  We thought it was time to share it!

This bowl was originally used to serve a side dish of cooked vegetables in the restaurants of the hotel. Today, we envision it as a chic vessel to serve crudité,  slices of bread at the dinner table, berries at breakfast, cookies at dessert, a delectable sautéed onion dip to serve with homemade potato chips - the uses are endless!
