This Vintage "Spreader," circa 1930's, sports the monogram "GHR" which stands for Grand Hotel Rome, one of the historic hotels in the portfolio of deluxe properties owned by legendary Italian hospitality company CIGA.
While formerly used as a fish knife at one's place setting in one of the hotel's elegant marble-floored restaurants, we like to use these hollow-handle knives at cocktail time for spreading soft cheeses and paté.
This knife's patina from its history of use in this iconic adds to its charm - a true collectible piece of vintage European hotel silver.
