This Vintage Water Pitcher, made by Mappin & Webb Silversmiths, is marked with the initials "P&O" for the Peninsular & Orient Navigation Company.

P&O was a British shipping line founded in the mid-1800's to deliver mail to India and East Asia. Later, it became one of the most glamorous fleet of ocean liners in the world.

Imagine the clink of champagne glasses in the First Class dining rooms, the background "sound track" of animated conversation, laughter and dance music as white-gloved waiters served chilled water from this pitcher.

Today, restored and re-silver plated in London for Hôtel, this vintage grand pitcher remains an elegant essential for entertaining.

The graceful shape of this weighty pitcher goes with everything, making it timeless in appeal. Ideal for serving ice water or batch cocktails. Also looks stunning when filled with favorite blooms.

The vintage offerings in our collection are restored and re-plated in pure silver in London for us by our longtime silversmiths. Even with restoration, some of the pieces may sport more patina than others due to their unique history and use which we think only adds to their character and allure.
