This Vintage Bread Dish was made by Mappin & Webb Silversmiths to be used in the dining rooms aboard the ships of the "Pacific Steam Navigation Company." Established in the 1830's in London, this merchant shipping line started its steamship routes along the west coast of South America. Later it turned to deluxe passenger travel across the high seas.
The dish sports the elegant monogram (PSNC) of this British shipping ine with a rimmed border in a quintessential, geometric Deco motif.
It's the ideal size for serving warm rolls, pop overs, slices of bread at the dining table. It doubles as a stunning serving piece for side dishes at the table or on a buffet.
We love to use elegant bread dishes to hold favorite stationery on a desk or for mail on an entry foyer table.
An eye-catching entertaining and decorative accessory with character and history.
The vintage offerings in our curated collection of European hotel silver and barware are restored and re-plated in pure silver in London by our longtime silversmiths. Even with restoration, some of the pieces may sport more patina than others due to their unique history and use which we think only adds to their character and allure.
