Vintage "BR-M" Pedestal Cake Stand

A vintage pedestal cake stand is a classic for anyone who loves and collects European hotel silver.

This cake stand has "BR-M" stamped on the top plate (initials for "British Rail Midland Region"), circa 1950's. It was one of the largest railway companies in Britain in the early 1900's.

Imagine passengers being served scones at tea time from this stand - by white-gloved waiters in the First Class dining cars en route northward to Scotland.
