Vintage 14" Oval Platter, Shipping Collection

This vintage 14" oval platter sports the flag badge of the Alfred Holt Shipping Co.  Founded in England in 1866, the company operated merchant ships for over a century.

This platter was made by renowned silversmiths Walker & Hall to be used aboard the ships of the company's fleet.  We love its clean lines and a classic shape with rolled rims.  A fabulous addition to one's collection of vintage European hotel silver with the added allure of its nautical history. 

This platter makes a unique gift for anyone's home by the water or for the  boating aficionado in one's life - a great conversation piece when using it for entertaining. Keep upright against a kitchen backsplash or bar when not in use for it's streamlined beauty.

The vintage offerings in our collection are restored and re-plated in pure silver in London for us by our longtime silversmiths. Even with restoration, some of the pieces may sport more patina than others due to their unique history and use which we think only adds to their character and allure.
