Vintage 1930's Sugar Shaker, Ocean Hotel

This Vintage Sugar Shaker was made by Elkington Silversmiths for The Ocean Hotel, a luxury seaside resort that opened in 1938 in the village of Saltdean near Brighton in England.

We adore the elegant shape of this shaker with its pierced cap, topped by a finial.  The  appealing badge of the hotel is exquisitely detailed.

We love shakers for powdered sugar to serve at dessert time, very finely grated parmesan cheese for lunch or dinner - and a beautiful accessory for a vanity. 

The vintage offerings in our collection of European hotel silver & barware are restored and re-plated in pure silver in London by our longtime silversmiths. Even with restoration, some of the pieces may sport more patina than others due to their unique history and use which we think only adds to their character and allure.
