Vintage 4-Slice Toast Rack, Anchor Badge

This Vintage 4-slice Toast Rack was made for use aboard the ships of the Orient Steam Navigation Line, a British fleet of ocean liners that carried both mail and passengers to and from England to Australia and New Zealand.  iIts beginnings date back to the late 1800's. 

We were drawn to the handsome desight of this toast rack with its sturdy oval feet and the anchor badge of the Orient Line.  It makes a unique gift for some one who adores all things nautical.

Originally designed for serving toast at breakfast, we love to use toast racks to hold favorite cards and stationery on a desk, folded cocktail napkins when serving appetizers - even to serve individual cookies in each slot at dessert time.

The vintage offerings in our collection are restored and re-plated in pure silver in London by our longtime silversmiths. Even with restoration, some of the pieces may sport more patina than others due to their unique history and use which we think only adds to their character and allure.
