Vintage 7 1/4 Cup Coffee Pot, British India Steam Navigation Co.

This elegant and generously sized coffee pot prominently bears the badge "B.I.S.N Co, Ltd" from the historic British India Steam Navigation Company. 

We adore the streamlined design of this vessel with its urn finial and graceful, scroll handle.

It was crafted by renowned Elkington Silversmiths for use aboard ship. Established in the 1850's by Scottish merchants, this shipping line boasted the largest fleet of merchant ships in the world in the early 1920's.

The ocean routes of this line transported British mail and passengers between England and India, Burma, East Africa, the Persian Gulf and Australia.

Imagine steaming coffee poured into the bone china cups of passengers situated at white-clothed tables at breakfast in the ocean liners' grand dining rooms.

Today, one can transform breakfast into an occasion serving piping hot coffee from this restored treasure of maritime history - a keepsake from a bygone era of elegant ocean travel.  It makes a statement when entertaining to serve after-dinner coffee or hot chocolate.

The vintage offerings in our collection are restored and re-plated in pure silver in London by our longtime silversmiths. Even with restoration, some of the pieces may sport more patina than others due to their unique history and use which we think only adds to their character and allure.
