This Vintage Sauce Boat was made for the historic, posh Goring Hotel in London which opened its doors in 1910. The illustrious guests who have stayed and dined at The Goring include generations of British royalty - even housing film crews in 1944 who were en route to document the D-Day invasions of World War II.
Imagine the history this sauce boat has served.
Today, we love a vintage sauce boat to serve warm gravy and sauces at the dinner table or on a buffet, warmed maple syrup at breakfast, hot fudge sauce at dessert - and used as a vessel for fresh whipped cream to accompany desserts. We've also used it for delicious dips on a large crudité platter.
When not in use for entertaining, we like to keep our collection of sauce boats on open kitchen shelving for easy reach and their appealing shape.
This is a true collectible piece of coveted vintage European hotel silver.
The vintage offerings in our collection are restored and re-plated in pure silver in London for us by our longtime silversmiths. Even with restoration, some of the pieces may sport more patina than others due to their unique history and use which we think only adds to their character and allure.
