This Vintage Sugar Bowl from the iconic Dorchester Hotel in London caught our eye due to its graceful shape and elegant laurel-wreathed "D" badge on the front of the bowl. Circa 1930's.

It's rare to find treasures from this legendary hotel situated in tony Mayfair overlooking leafy Hyde Park.

While re-plated in London by our longtime silversmith, this bowl still has the coveted soft patina of collectible vintage European hotel silver from its history of use in this luxury hotel's restaurants.

It was very likely set upon one of the many starched white clothed tables in the hotel's Promenade where The Dorchester's renowned traditional afternoon tea is still served to this day.

Designed to serve lump sugar for coffee or tea,  we also like to use vintage sugar bowls as a chic vessel for garden roses cut down to size or as an accessory on a vanity.

The vintage offerings in our collection of European hotel silver and barware are restored and re-plated in pure silver in London for us by our longtime silversmiths. Even with restoration, some of the pieces may sport more patina than others due to their unique history and use which we think only adds to their character and allure.
