This Vintage Sugar Bowl, circa 1930's, was made by Mappin & Webb Silversmiths, renowned for their refined craftsmanship of silver-plated hotel servingware for Europe's finest restaurants, hotels, railway companies, and luxury ocean liners.

With its graceful scroll handles and generous proportions, this handsome piece is adorned with the crest of the historic British Peninsular & Orient (P&O) Steam Navigation Company—widely regarded as the world's first cruise line. 

One can imagine a morning at sea: crisp white linens, attentive waiters serving tea and coffee from polished silver pots, and the gentle sounds of fine bone china and crystal as guests lingered over breakfast while crossing the ocean in timeless style.

Originally designed to be filled with lump sugar cubes, this vessel doubles as a chic vase for garden roses cut down to size or fresh herbs.
